Chamber & String Orchestra | 2018-Present (8 years)
I have studied and performed viola for eight years, pursuing orchestral music with the same long-term discipline I bring to academics and athletics. I am currently a member of the John Jay Chamber Orchestra, and have also performed with the String Orchestra, participating in advanced ensemble repertoire and performance settings.
Performance & Evaluation
Each year, I perform in public concerts for the local community, gaining experience presenting complex musical works to live audiences. In addition, I regularly perform in the NYSSMA Major Organization Competition, where ensembles are evaluated against statewide standards for musical precision, interpretation, and ensemble coordination. These experiences require consistent preparation, focus under pressure, and a high level of musical accountability.
Professional-Level Artistic Training
Sustained orchestral performance demands technical precision, attentive listening, and synchronization within a group. Years of rehearsal and competition have developed my ability to respond quickly, maintain accuracy in high-stakes settings, and contribute to collective excellence—skills essential in both performing arts and scientific collaboration.
Artistry in Balance with STEM
My engagement in music complements my academic and research pursuits by cultivating discipline, pattern recognition, and collaborative awareness. Performing arts have strengthened my ability to balance analytical rigor with creativity, preparing me to thrive in intellectually and artistically demanding environments.
