I have participated in Science Olympiad for four years, in competition-based STEM events that promotes scientific reasoning, experimentation, and teamwork under time constraints. My primary focus has been on chemistry based events, including Chem Lab, Forensics, and Materials Science, which require conceptual understanding and laboratory implementation.
Experimental & Analytical Skills
Through preparation and competition, I practice execution of standard labroratory procedure, data interpretation, and procedural accuracy. I created detailed study notes for my events and supported team readiness by demonstrating laboratory procedures to underclassmen, prioritizing safety, comprehensibility, and efficiency.
Competition Experience
I have competed in multiple in-state and out-of-state invitational tournaments, as well as regional competitions and have gained experience performing in high-pressure, time-limited scientific settings. These competitions required quick problem-solving, adaptability, and close teamwork with partners.
Recognition
In 2022, I received the New York State Science Olympiad Certificate of Excellence, recognizing both individual contribution and sustained performance within the program.
Academic Impact
Science Olympiad strengthened my interest in experimental science and applied chemistry. It has reinforced my skills and mindset to pursue biomedical research and/or pre-medical studies.
